Threading, or Oriental hair removal, is a method originating from Asia with a millennia-old history. It is believed to have come from India and then spread to the Middle East and Africa. In Iran, threading was traditionally used to remove hair from young girls' faces, marking the transition from girlhood to womanhood. In threading, a rolled thread is passed over the skin, capturing the hairs along with their roots. Because the thread is straight, it allows for perfect lines, and threading has become a popular alternative to tweezing or waxing for eyebrow shaping.
